.... the last light of dusk dissipates ...
... darkness engulfs the sky.
“There's a special quality to the loneliness of dusk, a melancholy more brooding even than the night's.” ― Ed Gorman
Dusk unnerves me — the day is dying and the darkness sneaks in.
But once it's dark, I'm good again.
It is that split moment between day and night that creeps me out a little.
Does dusk spook you?
No it doesn't, but hearing weird sounds when it's dark creeps me out a lot.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ♥
Beautiful words! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteInfinitely Posh
I am a twilight lover. It is also a great pleasure to watch the before and after:-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts Veronica. I just wish dusk would last longer. I am not fond of the dark if I am alone. Of course now having Winslow I am not ever alone lol. Hope your week is going good!
ReplyDeleteBetty
No, it doesn't. I like. Somehow is kind of magic moment. 😊
ReplyDeleteThe photo is gorgeous!
I wish you beautiful days, Veronica!
It doesn't spook me but my mother always called it the witching hour so it must have spooked her!
ReplyDeleteI won't drive at night but nothing better than being in bed.
ReplyDeleteMy Hubby has a clock with light projected to the ceiling.
ReplyDeleteI am chicken...
Normally it doesn't, but your picture is a little spooky!
ReplyDeleteHi Veronica, thanks for your lovely comments on my bog, much appreciated. I love the twilight, and often stand on my balcony, watching the light fade, and sometimes with bats flying round me. This always calms me. Have a great day, I'm following your blog now so I can keep in touch! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteDusk does not spook me. It is the time that we go out to experience crepuscular birds and bats.
ReplyDeleteCool photo! We don't mind the dark unless things go bump in the night.
ReplyDeleteYour photo definitely captures the closing of day, Veronica. I enjoy the quiet moments of sunset and look forward to the shift change as the moon takes charge of the night sky.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but like you I am not a fan of dusk, it depresses me.
ReplyDeleteDusk is my favourite time of day. It feels magical somehow.
ReplyDeleteFelizmente que não me assusta.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

Dusk is filled with beauty, my favorite time. I love your photo, it is a stunner. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe photo. The quotes. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture. I don't get spooked really by dusk but prefer the golden hour shortly beforehand. Really like the contrast in dark and light in your photo. So glad you stopped by my blog. Nice to make new friends.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dark image. And the poem, love it.
ReplyDeleteNo, it is one of my favourite times of day. Love your poem.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and nice words. Have a great day.

I never feel afraid when it gets dark. I love the peacefulness that comes over me.
ReplyDeleteThis is a powerful shot - very well done.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky and poem, I enjoy sunsets and skywatching.
Take care, have a happy new week!
beautiful capture
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab capture very atmospheric too :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a dusktastic week 👍
It does Veronica -- and it is good to know I'm not the only one! I especially hate that moment when we're driving -- traveling or just out for a day trip. At dusk every part of me wants to be settled in for the night, not out on the road. Thanks for this -- I am saving the quote!!
ReplyDeleteNice picture of the sunset.
ReplyDeleteWe go to bed during this time when it is still light, the sun sets after 10 pm, but then it remains completely light for at least half an hour.
I don't go out when it's dark.
Greetings Irma
Not really.. it is a peaceful time for me.
ReplyDeleteI like dusk, it feels like a peaceful time, between the hectic day and quieter evening. And we get the most beautiful sunsets.

...the afterglow of a sunset can be more beautiful than the sunset itself. You captured a lovely one.
ReplyDeleteno it doesn't. but darkness does.
ReplyDeleteI don't like driving at dusk as it is so hard to see, but I enjoy its peacefulness if I am sitting and looking at the dark silhouettes.
ReplyDeletePerfect photos for your poem and interesting question....I do feel a twinge of sadness when night falls and the day is done.
ReplyDeleteDusk can be melancholic. Beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteI like to watch the sunset as dusk arrives. I don't like a moonless night when it is black as pitch. That unnerves me.
ReplyDeleteNever thought of it as spooky, just super interesting skies that make for some great lighting.
ReplyDeleteNice sky ❤
ReplyDeleteNice photo. I like the sunset.
ReplyDeleteDusk is my favourite time of the day. I love the intense blue and the stars start showing up in the sky. Gorgeous photo!

The only thing that creeps me about about dusk is the anticipation of the nighttime spiders weaving their webs throughout the gardens and on the porch and deck. I love sitting on the front porch at dusk to hear the last of the bird songs and see the last of the feeder eating, while the gardens are cooling off. Right now it's the short time between day and night when the lightning bugs are twinkling in and out of the shadows of the plants. It's magical.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for this beautiful image!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us!
Happy Today, Veronica!
Now that you mention it, it is a bit creepy but the colors are just so unusual in the sky.
ReplyDeleteYour link this week at 'My Corner of the World' is appreciated!
it actually does for me, Veronica.. Dusk and dawn are actually beautiful but there is something 'magical' and eery about it. I have to admit I'm a bit superstitious myself..
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't spook me--except that I don't like driving at dusk because that's when the deer seem to come out and I'm always afraid of hitting one.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful photo.
Dear, dear Vero,
ReplyDeleteNo dusk doesn't spook me out, on the contrary I love rejoicing in it's beauty and giving gratitude for another day gone by cherishing my breath and all the lessons the day had in store for me.
What a wonderful shot and beautiful addition to my #WW linky. Thank you.
Big love xoxox
Buona domenica
ReplyDeleteVery pretty picture. Dusk is one of my favorite times to be outside. It's cool and pretty. If only the mosquitoes weren't so bad!
