Back in 2014, Malaysia saw an invasion of these giant moths.

A friendly bigass moth landed on my back! |
The Lyssa Zampa tropical moth aka Laos brown butterfly has a wingspan of about 6 inches!
The BBC reported that thousands of these gargantuan creatures have swarmed cities in Malaysia, and even disrupted a national football match!

Malaysian street food — rice noodle roll |
A batter of rice flour is steamed over a piece of cloth. When the noodle sheet sets, it is peeled off the cloth and rolled with a filling of minced prawn and roast pork. The noodle roll is then sliced and topped with a sweetened soy sauce, fried shallots, sesame seeds and chili oil.

Away From The Blue
The Frangipani are so beautiful. The moths! Eeek! We had an issue with giant monarch butterflies several years ago, there were so many they were clogging the engines on planes! I love butterflies but we'd drive down the road and they would be all over our car, it was sad. I invite you to stop by and share your post at the TFT blog hop Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDear Veronica,
ReplyDeletesome of your pictures whet my appetite -
some astonish me. I have never seen butterflies like this, nor have I heard of this "invasion". Fascinating!
All the best from Austria,
Traude
