Artist Kailash Bagla uses the peepal leaf as his canvas. This sacred fig (peepal in Urdu) is a species of banyan fig native to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, southwest China and Indochina.
Accroding to Indian folklore, the peepal is considered female as opposed to the the male Banyan.
My mom has one of these dried leaves. It's amazing how light and see through they are. It looks plastic to me but when you examine it closely, it's a real green dried leave.
Wow that is incredible artwork. I just found you from Never Growing Old's Over 40 Blog Hop. I'm enjoying visiting your blog. Nancy http://www.howtohomemaker.com/
