David Laferriere - sandwich bag art

While most parents would slip a note into their kids' lunch bags,David Laferriere goes a step further. A graphic designer and illustrator, David uses a Sharpie marker to draw on his kids' sandwich bags. Each drawing is done just after he has made the sandwich. He takes a picture and posts to flickr. His kids don't see the drawing until it is lunchtime.

OMG, how cool are those drawings?! Thanks for posting them.

OK, so the other thing...parents put notes in their kids lunches? Crap! I need to get with the program. LOL

As cool as that is, all that I kept thinking is isn't there some beds that need to be made or laundry to be done?? Really. I'm thinking he's a stay-at-home dad and he apparently has some time on his hands, right? Sweet, yes. Efficient, no. Moms don't have the time to draw on lunch bags, pally.

Thanks for featuring me and the comments!
I have fun doing these drawings and my kids love 'em. It takes me longer to make the lunch than do the drawing. Each drawing takes 2 to 5 minutes on average. I was featured in June on the Sharpie Marker blog.

This is in response to Lin's earlier comments which seem a bit harsh. I know Dave personally. He is a committed, responsible parent, who obviously loves his children. He has a great talent and whips these little sandwich art pieces together in a matter of minutes after making up the sandwiches. So two or three minutes out of your day to make your kids smile it worth it IMHO!
