Rain

While waiting out the rain in a restaurant, my son Rodney messed around with an Instagram App to kill time. It was raining cats and dogs. Stuck in the restaurant with nothing else to do, I stared out the window, watching and listening to the pitter-patter of the falling rain; something I hadn't done in a long, long time. One tends to take the rain for granted when one lives in a country with a wet climate.

The sound of the rain was a balm for my soul. I felt a sense of peace and calm.

Rodney's cinemagraph
What can be more perfect than a nice glass of steaming Oolong tea on a cold rainy day?

I really love Rodney's cinemagraph.  It's a reminder to take a break from the fast track; to slow down and  enjoy the simple pleasures around us. Sometimes, we need to stop and smell the rain.

The sound of rain reminds me of Grandma frying keropok (prawn crackers). The Hubs says he associates the sound of rain with mah jong tiles shuffling. To Rodney, it's bacon sizzling. Josh says rain sounds like someone typing on a keyboard.

What does the sound of rain remind you of?

Doesn't this sound like rain?

  1. That's beautiful!! I hate it that my kids aren't home to teach me those things now.

I have slowed down a LOT since I walked away from my job last July. I take a lot of time to just sit out in the yard, take a walk, check on the fish and frogs...I am even raising butterflies in the house right now. It's nice to just breathe and LIVE.

Someday, Veronica Lee....we are gonna sit and enjoy tea together. :)

  2. What a perfect thing to do on a rainy day. I love rainy days too. We don't have a lot of them, but they are refreshing and they clean the air and that's a good thing.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

  3. Rodney did a great job! Love it! Wish we had some rain to listen to but its been a terrible drought here, though monsoon season is upon us so one can hope we'll get some soon.

I think you had a great time waiting out the storm :)

  4. Wow! Not only are you right, that's a great way to wait out the rain -- with a cup of hot tea. But your son's photography is amazing!

Hope the rest of your weekend is warm and balmy! Have a fun one.

  6. Sometimes God orchestrates our circumstances so we have to slow down because we forget how much we need it!

  9. He most certainly has a mood that he captured for sure.

It's been so rainy in June. It's kind of let up now. I do like coffee or tea on a rainy day.

  10. Neat picture!! It rains here during the summer nearly every afternoon. I like to sit on my porch watching the dark clouds roll in. I usually go in when it starts to thunder and lightening though!

  12. I watched an amazing thunder storm the other night! Got up this morning kinda hoping for a rainy day so I didn't feel the need to go out and do something.

  13. I absolutely love the picture! This is just the perfect thing for me on a rainy day. I do listen to a lot of music and drink tons of steaming tea because where I live, it does get a little too cold for my liking every time it rains.

  14. The picture is as if it was right in front of me and I want to take a sip... yep, just a sip because I wouldn't want to be burned. It's just something you would normally see on a cold, damp rainy day! Love it and thanks for sharing! Have a great week & weekend.

  17. very cool pic. There is a song that goes "rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey, whiskey makes my baby frisky." No real point to that, your post just reminded me of it and gave me a chuckle #thatfridaylinky
