Deepavali 2014
Around this time every year, you will see colorful *kolams such as this adorning the entrances to Hindu homes and shopping malls in Malaysia. That is because Hindus all over the world will be celebrating Deepavali also known as the Festival Of Lights tomorrow.
* During Deepavali, the entrances to Hindu homes are decorated with fresh mango leaves and kolams (Indian floor art). It is believed that the Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi, will only enter a home that is adorned with a kolam.

Thank you so much for the wishes! May this Diwali bring joy and happiness to all.
ReplyDeleteKolam or Rangoli is my favorite part of the festival decoration. Being in USA, it's not gonna be a holiday and I am finding it hard to fit in all the preparations with full day of office. Let's see how it goes.

I scribbled about my Diwali preparations just last night. Check it our here- http://tanyaanurag.blogspot.com/2014/10/diwali-ready.html
ReplyDeletevery pretty. hopefully a windy day will not blow away their hard work. That festival sounds very lovely compared to Americans giving out treats to little goblins so they don't do naughty tricks. It reminds me more of our Thanksgiving holiday. Faythe @ GrammyMouseTails

I LOVE your elephant and diya cookies! They're definitely some of my favourites out of all your work - so colourful and festive. Elephants are one of my favourite animals too. Have you ever made any Australian animals? Maybe you could make koalas and kangaroos for Australia Day on 26th January! xx
