Pasta alla Pusttanesca |
Legend has it that the ladies of the night concocted this dish so the aroma wafting from the kitchen would lure clients into the brothels.
*Kopi - coffee in Malay
Economy Rice
Economy rice, as the name implies, is a cheap and fast meal option outside of home. Economy rice stalls typically consist of a case/table containing anywhere from 10-15 troughs of cooked food, including meat, vegetables, eggs and tofu dishes.
Hello Veronica :=)
ReplyDeleteThose Dancing Ladies Orchid flowers are beautiful and aptly named, but just the name of the pasta would put me off eating it. I have never seen so many food trays in a restaurant before. There must be a large kitchen staff to
provide 80 dishes. A good place to go for a take away meal. Your son looks happy and he is fit too.
All the best
What a nice flower, thanks for your sharing...
ReplyDeleteVery nice, as always. Puttanesca is a good pasta dressing. My favorite shots are the Dancing lady orchid, anyway. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI think I have eaten pasta in just about every style and it is always good. No wonder it was used to lure in clients, although I suspect that men with sex on their mind didn't need much additional inducement!
ReplyDeleteThat vintage coffee making mural looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteEconomy rice works for me!

ReplyDeleteI had many times whore pasta (in the style of the whore), but I didn't know that Italian legend 🇮🇪 😄... thank you for the explaination. Nice architecture of the Brussels' medieval cathedral! I have never been to Belgium.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son!
When I saw the photo of your son in the first collage I was going to ask in my comments who that cyclist was -- it looked like one of "Rick's people." (Rick's people are serious riders who will tackle just about any kind of terrain!) I think they would get along well.
ReplyDeleteThe Dancing Ladies Orchids are very beautiful, and the name is perfect. The botanic name is Oncidium :-)
ReplyDeleteTake care, and have a great new week Veronica!
Wow 😍What a nice flower! Amazing!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful, colorful and cheerful post,
thanks for your sharing 🥰
Thanks for sharing a close up of that flower. It really does look like a dancing lady!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I need to find some whore pasta just to say I'm eating whore pasta.
ReplyDeleteThe Dancing Lady orchids are the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen, Veronica. Thanks for sharing these with us, and for all your other interesting photos. I always learn something new here at your blog!
ReplyDeleteThe food - oh my ...i want some ...looks so so good. And the ladies dancing, and your cute bicyclist son - all make for fun photos!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've seen the dancing lady orchids. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI would take the "Economy Rice" over the fast food (burger) joints here!
That buffet is surely incredible to taste and enjoy. The floral bloom is very beautiful
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower. That economy kitchen is incredible. I like the story behind whore pasta.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThe Orchids are really fantastic.
The pasta looks delicious.
The buffet also looks delicious, you don't know what to choose, it's all so tasty.
Greetings Irma

Lovely photos. The dancing ladies are lovely, and you have a strong and handsome son! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe dancing lady orchid is beautiful. It's such a unique flower. You took some very nice photos of it. Interesting story about the Italian dish. Oh my gosh, I would so love going into the restaurant that serves 80 dishes! They all look delicious. Cathedral of St. Michael made me smile. He is one of my beloved Saints. That's awesome that your son is a cyclist. And the coffee mural is delightful. Sipping on my morning coffee reading my favorite blogs.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful week, my friend.

The Dancing Lady Orchid is beautiful! Ha! And I enjoyed the legend of the Whore Pasta. Economy Rice is impressive! I’ve never seen a restaurant with so many options. Your son’s enthusiasm for riding is very apparent. :D
ReplyDeleteHola Verónica, muy bonitas fotografías, un buen reportaje, me encantan las orquídeas.
ReplyDeleteFeliz semana.
Saludos.
All that array of food is making me feel hungry. The pasta dish looks like something we would make here in our kitchen. The lady in the mural looks like my mum.
ReplyDeleteWhat fab photos and I liked all the info too oh and that lovely food heheh! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a gallimaufrytastic week 👍
Oh very good photos darling
ReplyDeleteThis market with all the cooked food looks so good! and so much variety! Where is it? I did not know the origin of these words either! The Dancing Lady has her arms flung out wide!
ReplyDeleteBellas orquídeas y me diste hambre. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteDancing Lady Orchids are beautiful; love the color.
ReplyDeletePuttanesca takes on a whole new meaning for me now Veronica. And I never heard of dancing lady orchid. What a fabulous plant.

As I am Italian I ate many times "pasta alla puttanesca" and that kind of pasta is called "rigatoni" or "mezze maniche".
ReplyDeleteI remember very well the Cathedral; before my retirement I went many times to Bruxelles for work.
Precioso el árbol con la orquídea amarilla. La Catedral se inda con ese cielo. Gracias.
ReplyDeleteBuena semana.
Un abrazo.
Beautiful orchid and all that food on the economy rice line; made me wonder how they charge people (I know more than a few people who would help themselves to wayyy too much ...) They way I heard about Pasta Puttanesca was that the "ladies" would make it for themselves after a busy night, because it is so quick. Whichever way is true, it is good and the aroma is delicious of course. Bacon!!!
ReplyDeleteThe dancing lady is absolutely gorgeous. I love the flowing, delicate shape of this orchid. I hope you have beautiful week!
ReplyDeleteYou got it all going today. Orchids, sons with bicycles, sights from Brussels. I'm intrigued by the economy rice place.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
The cathedral is absolutely stunning. It would be so much fun to explore and see all of the details inside.
ReplyDeleteThose yellow orchids wrapped around the tree are just beautiful! All that food looks like enough to feed a whole town, my goodness! I look at the pasta that we call rigatoni here and I'm shocked at what the real name represents LOL
ReplyDeleteThe Dancing Lady orchid is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely flower and the food looks super delicious...thanks for sharing dear :-)

Ooooh, this "dancing" yellow orchid looks magical ❤️ dear Veronica! Oops - I didn't know this explanation about Pasta alla Puttanesca before... interesting but also irritating 😉 The mural that shows the traditional kopi brewing is so cute! I would definitely try Economy Rice when traveling - does it taste good there? I haven't been to Brussels yet, so I didn't know the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula before. I can see that your son is enthusiastic about cycling 😊
ReplyDeleteAll the best 🌱🌿🌱

Oh those flowers are breathtakingly beautiful. Then I saw the food. I grabbed a huge plate and had a bit of each dish. Wow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Veronica. ♥
I love the flowers. I don't think I've seen those before.
ReplyDeleteI studied l'italiano. So I knew the name "Puttanesca" however I didn't hear it as a meal name. :)
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun post and I love all of that food lined up, all I would need is a chair and a fork!
