Gallimaufry#73

Just a gallimaufry of photos 📷
Capybara
The capybara is considered to be the kindest wild animal in the world. Calm and compassionate, capybaras are known to adopt stray and runt animals and even provide transportation on their backs for birds and monkeys.

Found this bird on my balcony. The poor thing didn't look too well.
FROM THE TRAVEL ARCHIVES

MacDonalds in Piazza del Duomo, Pisa
For those thinking that McDonald's is the best place to use the restroom in Italy, think again. At McDonald's, you have to consume something and surrender your receipt to the restroom attendant if you want to use the facility. Otherwise, you will be charged €1 just to pee!

Does McDonald's charge paying customers to use the restroom in your corner of the world?

  2. I don't think I have ever seen a capybara...so cute! The lunch looks really yummy.

  3. I have never heard about capybara before, Veronica. So kind and nice! I would love to have a animal of them here.
    Beautiful white hibiscus.
    Many hugs.

  4. I didn't know those wonderful facts about capybaras, Veronica. Here in the U.S., McDonald's allows you to use the restroom whether you order anything or not.
    Blessings!

  5. I haven't been in McDonalds for years, so I don't know. The capybara seems to be a very kind animal, I've never seen one before. Hugs, Valerie

  6. That bird looks very sick. Or if it had been in a terrible battle. Did it survive?

  7. Info I didn't know about the capybaras.
Sorry to hear someone would pay € 1.00 or would have to consume something if she/he were to use the facility.
Love the food. Nice post, Veronica :-)

  9. That poor little bird, he really doesn't look well does he? I don't eat at McDonalds anymore, but years ago the restrooms were free to use with no restrictions here in the US. Great photos, and all that food looks just wonderful!

  10. McDonalds rest rooms are free here, but there seems to be a growing tendency around the world to charge. Maybe we're next!

  11. Dearest Veronica,
Oh sure, humanity could learn a lot from the capybara and their friendliness!
Sure, being in Europe you have to pay at a lot of places in order to pee... Sounds ridiculous but it is a fact!
Here in the USA it is free and you find water fountains everywhere.
LOVE the convent school you, together with Tan Sri attended.
You have become an excellent photographer.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  17. Those are beautiful photos and collages.
I really never go to McDonalds, you can't eat what they sell there.
I assume you didn't eat lunch at McDonalds, this food does look good.
I wish you a good weekend.

  18. Hello Veronica :=)
I'm not a fan of McDonalds, but I went there once with my Grandchildren and the use of the rest room is free. I like the look of the convent school, I also attended a convent school. I saw the Oscars and your old classmate accepting the award. The Capybyras grow quite large. I have seen them in the Zoo, but didn't know about their pleasant nature. The hibiscus is beautiful and nicely captured.
    All the best.

  22. Our local zoo has capybaras and I had no idea they were considered such kind animals. All the Mc Donald's we've ever encountered in the states are not only free for their bathrooms but many of them are set up with a second entrance/exit right near the bathrooms so you can bypass the restaurant area entirely.

  23. odd looking animal the capybara, but how interesting to read about it. you shared some beautiful images, your meals look healthy and delicious!! as for mcdonalds here, they do not charge to use the restroom and there is no monitoring system. i have used there restroom when we are traveling, they are a convenient place to stop, when a rest area is not available!!

the bird on the balcony does look a little thin!!

  24. The food looks so delicious and the critters are super cool too. Hey, we can pee for free at our McDonalds!

  28. That is the strangest looking animal. Have never heard of it. And a strange looking bird on your balcony. Wow, McDonald's looks so different in Italy. I was looking for the golden arches and didn't see them. To answer your question.....we can just go inside and use the bathroom if we have to. It's a place that is popular for people traveling through as well. They are very friendly and helpful here, and I get an egg mc muffin at least once a month. The dishes look Yummy on here, especially the deep fried foods. How fun that you were classmates with the actress. Your posts are interesting, and I usually learn a thing or two when I visit, my friend. ; )

  29. Always love your picture collections~ The capybara is so cute and I did not know any of those facts, most interesting to learn. Your classmate really deserved her Oscar and I don't blame you a bit for name dropping. Very fun to say you knew her when!!

  31. wow, what a wonderful series of photos!
I like all of them, the ones with birds, with animals, with food, but... the one with the banner is the most impressive! Michelle is great!
how nice to be able to say you were classmate of a movie Star!
For me Malaysia is an exotic country, full of surprises. I hope that I will come to visit once.🤗
dear Veronica, I send you hugs from here in Bavaria 😘😍

  32. Beautiful school building there.
No I don't think we have to pay to use the loo in our McDonalds, it's not too far from home, it really is just down the road and haven't used the loo. In another city I've never used their loos either.
Photos are lovely, and that poor chook doesn't look good as you say.

  33. I didn’t know this about the capybara, although they have the appearance of being pretty gentle. Ha! So strange about having to present a receipt to use the bathroom at McDonald’s in Italy. Beautiful photos, Veronica!

  34. I have ever seen a capybara but it is a beautiful animal. I like that it is kind and compassionate, a lot better then lots of people.

  35. The McDonalds in the states do not make you pay to use their restrooms. However I do remember a retail store as a child that had coin-operated doors on the bathroom stalls. The fee was small but for someone so young I thought that was ridiculous and I still do. I have not heard of the capybara. Very interesting creature.

  36. What kind of bird IS that? He certainly looks bedraggled!

  37. Dear Veronica, where did you photograph the cute capybara? It lookson the photo like it's kept as a pet, but I thought these animals live in South America(?)... I didn't know they were such extremely friendly creatures... Your food makes me hungry and I would I'd rather eat it than something from McDonalds. I haven't been to this store for a long time, so I don't know if they charge toilet fees. The bird looks really sick. I wouldn't want to touch it... I'd much rather look at your flowers - and your beautiful school building. Oh, you and Michelle Yeoh were classmates in primary school - that sounds exciting. Did you have acting classes at school?
All the best from Austria and a good first week of April!
    Hugs, Traude 😘

  38. Hello,
The lunch looks delicious and the flowers are beautiful. I have never heard of the Capybara. Is that a chicken in the other photo, it looks to be missing some feathers. The restrooms in the McDonald's here are free, unless something changed recently. Take care, have a wonderful week!

  39. That is quite the name to drop. How cool.
    Lunch looks great.
In the US there is never a fee to use the bathroom. Some places do ask you buy to use the bathroom. When we were in Mexico we had to pay to use the bathrooms as well.

  43. Hello, Veronica
I am stopping back to say thank you for linking up this post. Nice critter photos, the Capybara is an interesting animal. The bird looks sad! The flowers are lovely. Wonderful photos! Have a great day and week ahead. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

  44. The capybara is an animal I had never heard of, Veronica Lee, so thanks for the information. As far as I know there is not a charge for using most restrooms here, except that many require you to be a customer but not to surrender a receipt. Delicious food photos, as always, and nice to see the photo of your former school and now-famous classmate too.

  45. This soup looks so good! I agree that the chicken looks unwell. Were you able to feed it? I did not know this info about the Capybara! That is something I will not soon forget!

I love the Capybaras and the Capybara song is such a hit with my girls these days. Heard it Vero?
Your lunch looks finger licking delicious.

And, yes never payed to use a rest room in Mc D.

  56. How wonderful that you were classmates with Michelle Yeo. I have always enjoyed her acting skills. Wonderful photos again, thank you! It is nice to know that the Capybara is such a loving animal. I first saw them at one of our zoos 200 miles south of us. Such a sweet animal! I am hoping your poor bird was just molting. Ours do that a couple of times a year and they look very straggly. I thought the same when I first saw one. Keeping fingers crossed that yours is the same.

  57. Almost forgot, there is no charge to use our McDonald's restrooms and there are people who clean them but there is no permanent restroom attendant.
