DinnerIn Malaysia, you will find a masjid (mosque) in every neighbourhood. 🕌
Can you spot the masjid?
Picture worth a thousand memories
Growing up, when we weren't in school, we spent half the time playing outside until we heard the lilting echoes of the maghrib (sunset prayer) from the kampung (village) mosque as dusk slowly dimmed into darkness. It was our cue to dash home and clean up just in time for dinner or risk an ass whooping! Oh, those carefree days!
The peregrina looks so beautiful. We had fun with Hopscotch as kids too.
ReplyDeleteDinner looks so good, love the ikan bakar.....
ReplyDeleteDearest Veronica,
ReplyDeleteTalking about non–expensive at the time we grew up! And we learned so much along the way.
Love the Peregrina photo with the rain drops.
As for identifying a grasshopper versus a locust—I'm lost as well!
But I sure love the lovely Confederate rose they're sitting on:

Those balcony views bring us back to South East Asia... such a familiar view—even without the noises it brings back memories.
Big hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful view of the mosque! I also like the dinner.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Veronica :-)
That grasshopper is huge!
ReplyDeleteI loved hop scotch as a child too!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the difference between a locust and a grasshopper? I thought they were the same (something to do with how many of them there are?).
ReplyDeleteAh, hopscotch. Loved that as a kid. And then there was a different version we did as well, that we called Chinese Hopscotch, but I'm guessing that's not the current name it goes by.
I know that game too. Happy weekend, Veronica!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. We often played hopscotch when I was growing up in London, and used to love playing on the bombsites that were still everywhere after the war - dangerous, but we always had fun! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Veronica! I love the Peregrina. Lovely flower! We had the same Hopscotch when I was a child too :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, and many hugs!
We used to play hopscotch as kids - no mosques though!
ReplyDeleteoh this is just like life, Veronica! a beautiful blending of color and texture, sight and sound. enjoy your weekend, friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sharing...
ReplyDeleteYour son has an impressive view from his condo, Veronica! So many mosques! I wonder how many churches?
ReplyDeletebetty
Oh, life was much simpler back 'then.' We played kick the can until the sun began to set. So much fun. And all we needed was a can!!
ReplyDeleteWe are back from vacation and I marveled at the mix of old and new architecture in the cities we visited. I see the same in your photos. The humble homes and the majestic skyscrapers.
Great capture of the grasshopper?? Locust?? against that delicate pink bloom.
Lindas flores y lindo bicho. Me gusto la fotos de la cuidad. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of photos. Your son's condo sure is high in the sky. Yes hopscotch was simple and fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day :)
ReplyDeletePeregrina looks so attractive.... beautiful
ReplyDeleteNice colours!
ReplyDeleteLife WAS simpler then. Sometimes I'll see chalked hopscotch games on our sidewalks here and they always make me smile. You have the most beautiful and unusual (to me) images of food and flowers. I want to explore every single one!

So many colorful photos and wonderful scenes!
ReplyDeleteI loved playing hopscotch as a child, and even now, when I walk through a school yard where a hopscotch is painted on the ground, I'll do a few hops through it. We used to draw them with chalk.
ReplyDeleteLovely series of photos. Love hopscotch of course when a child, too old for it now.
ReplyDeleteHello Veronica,
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures. Wonderful all flowers and what a lovely meal.
That big grasshopper is so nice and what a wonderful view from your sons apartment. Nice post!!
Many greetings,
Marco
i love flower photos:)
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell the aroma of the grilled fish which looks delicious. I share your nostalgia for hopscotch and playing around until dark. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteYoko
Pretty flowers and wonderful views, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI used to love hopscotch though I wasn't very good at it since I had horrible balance. That osmoxylon plant looks like something from another planet.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers, thanks Veronica.
ReplyDeleteThe condo has amazing views!! And what an unusual and intricate grasshopper on the pretty pink flower. The hopscotch is so colorful, I used to love playing that as a child.
ReplyDeletea beautiful collection - love the flowers
ReplyDeleteAn amazing variety of photos you give us today!!
ReplyDeleteHopscotch was a big favorite in mid 1960's Utah. You are right chalk and a rock was all that was needed. The girls beat the boys really badly at that game.
What fab photos and what a view wow! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a gallimaufrytastic week 👍
I also played hopscotch when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful view from the apartment.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks delicious.
As a child we also played hopscotch.
Greetings Irma
Lovely eclectic selection of pictures.
ReplyDeleteThose numbers made me really want to do the hop scotch.
ReplyDeleteI played hopscotch all the time. We found ways to entertain ourselves outside with very little. I thought grasshopper when I first looked then I thought maybe locust. Who knows? Your photos are beautiful. I've never been to Malaysia so I enjoy seeing it through your lens.
ReplyDeleteIn the first set of photos, Mom spotted the hopscotch right away and hardly even noticed the other photos. It brings back great memories of being a little girl.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Have a nice day! :)
ReplyDelete...thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers, I looking outs fresh snow this morning.
ReplyDeleteHopscotch was always popular with children everywhere. We all made our own fun back then. The Peregrina is lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. Wow, love all the colors.
ReplyDeleteI got stuck on the food again. I love your food.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
Love the detail on the grasshopper - great macro image.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2022/11/10-months-gone.html
Spectacular images from Malaysia. And the flowers and that creature so well captured. You are so talented in creating these 'gallimaufries!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Veronica! Happy WW and a fine week!
The color of the Peregrina is wonderful, dear Veronica!
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of "Locust or grasshopper?" I can only say that in the German language there is only one word for both - namely HEUSCHRECKE. So it can't be important to distinguish them ;-)
Of course I can see the mosque from the balcony of your son's apartment. But what particularly fascinates me are the different settlements with larger and smaller houses. It looks like toy towns from above...
We also played hopscotch when we were kids. Funny that some games exist all over the world.
All the best
and have a wonderful time!

ReplyDeleteYou take the prettiest flower photos, and you even got a picture with the insect on the flower. I liked hearing about your childhood days. I had some really good ones too, and I also played outside with friends all day until it was time for supper. Hopscotch was fun, and Yes, life was so much simpler then, I agree.
ReplyDeleteIt is our Thanksgiving next week, and I'm thankful for blog friends like you.

Veronica, such lovely photos! I love the flowers and grasshopper photos especially. But the view from your son’s condo is incredible. Hopscotch was one of my favorite games when I was young too.

Hope you’re well. Regine
ReplyDeleteYes I think it as Traude Rostrose - it's a Heuschrecke in german language. What a balcony view so many buildings,
ReplyDeletegreetings
