Gallimaufry#45

Just a gallimaufry of orange-themed photos ...
Lantana
Fun fact
Lantana is Bunga Tahi Ayam in Malay which translates as chicken poop flower. Brush against or crush lantana leaves, and you'll encounter an odor that's somewhere between cat pee, gasoline and fermented citrus. Or chicken poop?!

Dried shrimps are almost a staple ingredient in many Asian cuisines for its umami taste.

  6. Hello,
I did not know about the odor from Lantana, it is one of my favorite summer annuals. It is also strange about how the shrimp are dried. Gorgeous sky capture, the color are lovely. I like the tiger tea set and the beautiful flowers.

  9. Hi Veronica! orange is a beautiful colour. The Sushi and prawns have given me appetite, and I have never seen so many prawns all at once! But I think I don't want to touch those smelly flowers! Have a wonderful week, take care, hugs, Valerie

  10. Orange reminds me of autumn coming and what beautiful photos! I find it fascinating how mother nature protects some of it's plants with offensive smells and/or skin rashes with poisonous plants! Thanks for another amazing visit to another side of the world I've never seen through your gorgeous photos. The sky view is incredible!

  11. I love seeing the flowers and photos that are indigenous to your area. They are so different than anything I see here in Philadelphia. I don't think we have the chicken poop flower and for sure I've never seen shrimp drying. so interesting.

  19. Lantana in the States are known as Butterfly bushes, as they attract these delicate creatures to their blooms. I will be careful, though, not to rub against their blooms! Does NOT sound like fun!
Loved the orange theme, my friend. Blessings!

  23. Hello Veronica,
What a nice pictures. So special to see so many shrimps drying in the sun.
I didn't know that. I like them very much to eat in a restaurant.

  24. Oh, look at this ORANGE post! I read one time that orange is the happiest color, and I believe that's true. But those poor shrimp - do they catch them and then dry them in the sun? There are so many of them! I've never cared for sushi, but I do like sushi with vegetables and such.. The sky from your balcony is beautiful.....and so orange! That tiger tea set is really cute. What a delightful decoration at the mall. I've always loved the lantana plant.

    Have a blessed week.

  41. What a great choice of orange colors and thanks Veronica Lee, I never knew that lantana translated as chicken poop flower and that brushing against it would give such an unpleasant odor. Our former VA neighbors had a lot of this flower in their gardens. That is a LOT of shrimp drying in the sun, my friend. As for the question about the sushi, is looks like rice with maybe dried shrimp?

  42. I loke both the tiger-theme tea cups and the orange sushi. I have heard of Chirashi Sushi and Gunkan Maki Sushi, but not of orange one :-)
    Great sunset, as usual!
    Have a nice weekend, Veronica!

  43. Love love all the orange photos - love orange and that view you have!! I didn't know that about Lantana. I even had some in my yard years ago and can't say i smelled that...however, next time I'm down the mountain over in a city nearby where I like to walk - where i know there is some lantana plants you can get i'm going to be sniffing around. That photo of the sunset is amazing. And that shrimp..wow.
