The plant gets its name from the two stamens that grow from the opposite sides of the flower, meeting in the middle to form a structure that resembles a chicken wishbone.
I snagged the photo below from Google Images. Can you see the wishbone?
I've never seen an instrument like the angklund. How interesting! And I also love that hymn and sing it often in the car when I'm driving. The wishbone flower is so interesting and delicate. Have a wonderful week, my friend.
Hello Veronica, What a lovely collection of photos. I love the beautiful Wishbone flowers. The musical instruments are cool looking. It is nice finally to meet up with friends for lunch. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your day and have a happy new week! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
I've never heard of the 'wish bone' flower. It is lovely! Lovely, too, is being reunited with friends after Covid separated us from the ones we love. Beautiful!
Dearest Veronica, Always such a happy post by you; lovely flowers and delicious food and special instruments. Most people that never heard such traditional Malay/Indonesian music would be in for a surprise. Also the gamelan orchestra... How touching and special the get–together of good friends over delicious food! Hugs, Mariette
The old word gallimaufry fits you photos very nicely, as well as maybe describing your food photos (as the original meaning of the word was a stew of various meats). Neat blog post!
I love the brilliant purple color of that flower and the wishbone is easy to see. Never saw this type of flower before. Also the heron. I saw that in Florida once, took a photo and tried to identify it with no luck . Thanks for that!!
The wishbone flower is fascinating! I love it! It makes me think of a pansy... and an orchid... and whatever it reminds me of, it's beautiful! Thanks for sharing at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2022/07/milkweed-visitors.html
I remember my mom growing a wishbone plant in a flower pot. Very beautiful. I'm glad you're beginning to mingle with friends again. Friendships give much good meaning to life.
your Torenia fournieri wishbone flower seem to be a rare one,. I can´t even find a Swedish name for it. Such an interesting instrument. Loved to listen to the music :) Thanks for sharing.
What a special post. I love the videos, quite special the music! The colors of the flowers are so beautiful. Thank you for this colorful mosaic, Veronica! Happy WW and a fine week!
Vi seu blog e vim conhecê-lo, gostei muito do que vi, adoro a culinária de seu país, um gostinho especial! Parabéns pelas fotos e vídeos lindos. Um abraço daqui do sul da América, RS/ Brasil.
Feeling a little guilty because I'm killing a wine bar right this minute as I write! (Husband is cooking dinner today and he just brought me my pre-meal glass!) Fun collection as always, I am so glad you and your friends were *finally* able to get together for a meal out. Whew -- we survived a couple of interesting years didn't we! (fingers crossed for luck....)
So Blackpink made me want to get up and rumba...and the other video - never ever have I heard or seen that instrument. That's amazing to me. Must have felt so good meeting up with friends after such a long time. I guess in our country at least in California - sounds like they are saying our Covid numbers are up. I'm glad i live in a small town and the only thing I do is travel the trails around the lake, lol... Fun post and the food looks delicious.
I've never heard and before I visit here from a wishbone flower- thanks for sharing and the Information. 2 years are very very to long - I think it too - enjoy now the time with family and friends! Greetings Kirsi
Good to see the girls getting back together Veronica. I agree, it was a long time. I hope that's a wine bar you are all in? We over here love a glass of wine but we can drink more by staying at home.
I so remember that night safari experience at the Singapore zoo. Must be so lovely to catch up with friends. That wishbone flower is pretty. Looks a lot like the Blue Pea flower.
Wishing you a relaxed weekend. Much love and hugs. <3
Stunning photos as always. So glad for your reunion after 2 years of separation due to Covid restrictions. It makes me sad to think of the time we lost with loved ones.
The music is so unique. I am not familiar with these instruments but what lovely sounds they produce.
And that food!! So glad I can't gain weight from reading your posts. But sure wish I could enjoy a sampling.
I really enjoyed the musical add-ins on this post, Veronica Lee, and Black Pink looked and sounded so joyous. The angklung was very unusual. Nice that friends were finally able to get together and enjoy such wonderful looking foods.
