Just a gallimaufry of photos ...
Dwarf MussaendaLeaves or petals?
Stumbling upon these rather unusual flowers, I wondered if the white parts of the plant were leaves or petals.I learned from a botanist friend that these white wings are bracts, that part that is found above the leaves but below the flowers.
Japanese jasmine
Skywatch from my balcony
Malaysian food
Mee goreng mamak (Indian Muslim fusion food )
Stir-fried Chinese yellow noodles with Malay and Indian seasonings and spices.
The plant with the white bracts reminds me of the poinsettia plant that is so common here at Christmas. The red or white or pink "flowers" are bracts, and the actual flower is tiny, like the ones on the plant you showed us.
ReplyDeleteYour tea treat looks delicious! Have a good week, Veronica. Enjoy your beautiful world.
That beautiful sky view is just amazing! Hopefully one day we could sit at your balcony together for some tea and sky view too, Veronica.
ReplyDeleteI loved japan jasmines:) thanks for your sharing...
ReplyDeleteI like very much to learn about the flowers in your area, Veronica. I have never seen they you show today. They are very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead my friend.
Excellent showing of mosaics, and to eat, yummy yummy.
ReplyDeleteThe sculptures of the water buffalo are impressive!
ReplyDeleteThose tea cakes look delicious.
ReplyDeleteAs always very beautiful photos. Remembering good times in Amsterdam where I went both for tourism and work.
Love the sculptures of the water buffalo.
Thanks for a wonderful visit to your part of the world through these wonderful photos. Everything is a treat for the eyes, and the stir fry looks absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual plant, Veronica. I think I liked the sunrise/sunset photo the best here, though I sure would like to join you for tea. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Wonderful photos and I am in love with skywatch pic, fabulous! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love the last shot the best. I would eat all of that if I could. It looks amazing.

Interesting photos!
ReplyDeletethe jasmine looks lovely - you made me so hungry with the food!
ReplyDeleteSkywatch photo from your balcony is stunning. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful photos, it is a pleasure to see them.
ReplyDeleteI am always drooling over the foods that you share on your posts haha. That dessert with your tea looks amazing. I wish I had a piece to go with my coffee this morning. The girls visited Amsterdam years ago, and said it was interesting and enjoyed it. That bridge looks really old and charming, and the water buffalos are unique. The noodle dish looks delicious. I would love to sit on your balcony and see the dazzling sky views that you see every day. Have a good week.

ps.....jasmine is one of Nel's favorite flowers and one of my favorite scents. So lovely. She has some planted in her back yard.
ReplyDeleteOh those noodles look yum. Such great pics of you in Amsterdam.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Japanese jasmine. I bet it smells really good!
ReplyDeleteBetty
ok - give me one month to live at your place and i'll give you a month in the mountains, lolol. i would love to take in the views from the balcony - beautiful sunset - also the flowers -- i always look forward to when you post your flower photos. I usually google what you put up to see more of that species. The food of course i would definitely try although i'm thinking it might be kind of spicy for me...the one with the indian spices but I'm game. p.s. you wouldn't want to live in the mountains because this time of year can get really boring - hard to get out and hike about.
ReplyDeleteAwesome collection of photos as always. I would love to try the Mee goreng mamak and also what you had for afternoon tea - yummy!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful set of photographs!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all your photos and the food always my faves heheh!
ReplyDeleteHave a gallimaufrytastic week 👍
I learned a new word: bract.
ReplyDeleteI love the water scenes and afternoon tea looks great. WOW, that's some big bull!
ReplyDeleteDearest Veronica,

What an AMAZING Sunset! I really enjoy seeing photos of peoples travels and surroundings! And Street Sculptures and Art are great, too!
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos ❤
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so beautiful, especially these bulls look very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of the blooms. It snowed here this morning. We could use the moister, but it was just a dusting so it didn't help anyhow.
ReplyDeleteFun water buffaloes!
I never knew about bracts. Learned something new today! And thank you for sharing your photos of Amsterdam and sending me on a mind-journey back to my own visit there several years ago!
ReplyDeleteYour Malaysian food and tea treat are making me hungry!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about Amsterdam and water buffaloes!
Water buffalo are amazing animals! Mom has seen the out in the wild. Amsterdam is a fascinating city, such a variety of things to see there.
ReplyDeleteIt seems you had delicious cakes at your afternoon tea! When you went to Amsterdam you took marvelous pictures! ... I have never been to the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteAlso like the Japanese Jasmine.
All the best!
...the view from your balcony is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the jasmine flower. It has a special perfume!
ReplyDeleteSo special images from your archives! But the sky is amazing!
And I am grateful that you share its beauty with us!
Thank you, Veronica! Happy WW and a fine week!
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
All lovely photos, but that sunset is beautiful. I love the smell of Jasmine. We have one in the garden in a big pot. Last winter started mild so the buds came early, then it turned very cold and even though we wrapped it in fleece the buds dropped. This year we struggled to get it in the greenhouse and of course it has been very mild! It is flowering already which is far too early.
ReplyDeleteLet's see, what do I love the most? Beautiful flowers? Amazing sky views from your deck? Travel to places I wish I could go? .... all wonderful, but I'm hungry, so today I definitely choose the food! (And I wish I could make it real and right here in my kitchen.)
ReplyDeleteThe food looks tasty, the sky is beautiful and the flowers are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteGallimaufry is a wonderful word! And the photos are wonderful as well.

Hello dear Veronica!
ReplyDeleteOh Amsterdam, I love this colorful city, but I haven't been there for a very long time. And where did you photograph these original water buffalos?
