I didn't get it at first until the tour guide told us that this ginormous statue is actually a cheeky Santa holding a butt plug! I thought it was a Christmas tree!

The Butt Plug Santa |
This controversial statue of jolly old St. Nick standing in a square at the end of a busy shopping street in Rotterdam stirred up a huge debate among politicians and residents, reigniting the timeless question of what constitutes art.
I’d just hate to be the parent who has to explain to their child what Santa is holding!
Funny or offensive?
Weirdness everywhere. I say if it's out there take the best side and go with that story. It's a Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
İnteresting post 😊
ReplyDeleteCriminy. I'm weary of such things--obnoxious for the sake of being so. I find it offensive.
ReplyDeleteI would hope my child wouldn't ask, LOL, and then I think I would say "I'm not sure, I'll try to find out" and hope they forget LOL :)
ReplyDeleteTo me a bit offensive :)
betty
I would think sometimes you just don't have to tell them everything. If you didn't know what it was as an adult the odds are they'll decide on something harmless and I'd leave them to it. I'd rather have them think I'm ignorant of art later than deal with the hassle in the present.
ReplyDeleteStuff like this to me seems childish. It reminds me of the stunts high school kids play to get attention.
oh my...
ReplyDeleteBeing that Santa is for Children, I find it offensive. Some people have a strange sense of humor. I thought it was a Christmas tree too :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny. My hubby would get a kick out of it.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a bit funny!!Thanks so much for stopping by!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie
Oh wow.. did not expect to see that today.
ReplyDeleteI could not imagine trying to explain that to my kids! LOL. I'm sure I'd claim it was a tree... ;)
ReplyDeleteTwo words...offensive and stupid.
ReplyDeleteIf you hadn't told us, I would not have known what it is. I would have said decoration.
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny too nothing offensive about it
ReplyDeleteHave a tanfastic week heheh!
Now I've heard everything. How do they come up with stuff like that?
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a Christmas tree though, so that's what I'd tell my child it is.
...having portrayed Santa for many years, I am not a fan!!! I enjoy humor, but not this. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteSilly, I should say! It would definitely offend a lot of people!
ReplyDeleteIt's debatable what all can go in for humour and this has to be one of them.
Happy Wednesday to you! Have a wonderful week ahead too.
WOW! How funny. Well I suppose everyone has different things on their list.
ReplyDeleteI also thought, "Christmas tree." I think it's funny, but don't think kids should be exposed to it in a public space. It would be different if it weren't out in the open but then again freedom of expression is a tricky one.
ReplyDeleteSilly. Besides, it doesn't send the intended message unless you are in the know. - Margy
ReplyDeleteWow, that's not my idea of 'art' for sure. Anything that is not child friendly or can be explained easily to a child shouldn't be place in public.
ReplyDeleteYour link at 'My Corner of the World' this week is much appreciated!
My Corner of the World
I would say neither funny nor offensive, it just makes no sense whatsoever. I don't understand the logic behind it and for that reason I really don't have an opinion. It just comes across as being silly! Thanks for linking this up to #globalblogging and hope to see you back next week x
ReplyDeleteOkaaay, that is just a bit strange!
ReplyDeleteIo la trovo bella!
ReplyDeleteBuon fine settimana.
Not sure why everything has to be sexualized? I find it offensive. Do kids really need that image? Thanks for linking up with us at the GATHERING OF FRIENDS LINK PARTY 10
