If you ever find yourself at Rossio Square, beware of the wavy tiles! They’re famous for creating that optical illusion where the ground looks like it has random speed bumps popping up — but don’t worry, it’s actually flat (I double-checked before blaming my eyesight).
Walking across it is already confusing enough when you’re sober… so I definitely wouldn’t recommend trying it after a drink too many. You’ll start wondering whether it’s the pavement moving or you. 😂

Yes, I can see how that could be a problem. I've fallen a few times. I'd be afraid I'd lose me balance.
ReplyDeleteI feel dizzy just looking at it...
ReplyDeleteEven sober, that looks a little dizzying! ☺
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine a Friday night with a few people who have had one drink too many getting trapped in there, while everyone else is trying to work out how to get around the obstacle! 🤣

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how awesome but of course it's true how one could fall over, best not look down and pick the feet up when walking there, that is my advice for me😉
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't seem like a place I would like to walk.
ReplyDeleteI think many older people have trouble with this, it would make you dizzy.
I wish you a very nice weekend.
All the best, Irma
❤️
ReplyDeleteWow! that really makes our eyes and heads spin!
ReplyDeleteI avoid places like that, with my cross-eyed vision I'd be dizzy and sweaty in no time
ReplyDeleteOh my! It's beautiful but just watching the video is making me dizzy. HA! I already have a balance problem and especially at dusk when the shadows change I often think there's a bump in my way that I need to step over when there's actually nothing there. :/
ReplyDeleteIt almost looks scary. I get dizzy just looking at it. Optical illusions are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Veronica!
Yes, that is some dizzy pattern, cool though!
ReplyDeleteIsn’t that amazing. An incredible area but I think I would get dizzy. Certainly wouldn’t want to miss this experience. What a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteEs genial. Me gusto el video. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteChe pavimento meraviglioso e pericoloso al tempo stesso
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks cool! Might make me feel dizzy though.
ReplyDeleteThat undulating paving is beautifully made, but whether I will go over it is a question mark, as I am already feeling dizzy.
ReplyDelete...I'm more dizzy than normal!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a neat effect!
ReplyDeleteThose tiles looks beautiful, and what an illusion. I think it's interesting how some places in the world actually tile public places rather than like here where it just get's blacktop. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful but a little dizzy looking!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteMakes me dizzy ~ great photos ! Hugs ^_^
ReplyDeleteFrom one angle it looks flat with the wavy lines painted. But that first photo is so textured. Yes, it would be hard to walk it!
Oooh...no ........ just no ! 🤣
ReplyDeleteOh man, you are not kidding! Walking across Rossio Square after a couple of drinks feels like trying to navigate a Mario Kart map in real life. Those black and white waves look cool in photos, but when you're actually there, your brain completely misfires trying to figure out where to put your feet. It’s the ultimate architectural prank. You’re just trying to walk normally, but instead, you look like a glitching video game character trying to step over invisible hurdles. Glad it’s not just me whose depth perception gets absolutely wrecked by that pavement! 😂
ReplyDeleteThis is so accurate it hurts. Walking across Rossio Square after a couple of drinks honestly feels like navigating a glitchy video game map. Those black and white waves look amazing in photos, but in reality, your brain completely misfires trying to figure out where your feet are supposed to land. You end up looking like you're trying to step over invisible hurdles just to walk in a straight line.
ReplyDeleteMuy cierto lo que dices, y mejor hacerlo sobrio, no despues de haber tomado unas cervecitas😂 La plaza es preciosa. Gracias Verónica. Buena semana.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
HA! This would play with me 100 percent sober. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThose wavy tiles would make me dizzy.
ReplyDeleteThe craftsmanship is amazing! I can't imagine how long it took them to lay all those tiles down to form that wavy pattern. Oh, and I agree, that would not be a place to walk after a few drinks... LOL!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine trying to navigate this after a drink or two!
ReplyDeleteThey are wavy tiles in many city in Portugal....And the are beautiful !
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit !
Have a nice week !
Anna
