I thought it would be fun to try out the technique on my cookies.
Warning! All that dotting really is addictive and I'm now seriously dotty about this art form!

Dotting the cookies was wonderfully cathartic.
It's probably easier to work with acrylic paints and dotting tools. With icing, it's hard to 'paint' uniform dots. The beauty of a dot mandala lies in the uniformly sized and perfectly aligned dots that form the fractals. I can't even get my dots to be perfectly round! Hence the haphazard, kindergarten-ish look of my cookies!
"The mandala is a template for the mind, a state of peace and order, a resolution to the chaos within." Carl Jung
A dot mandala tutorial by my favourite artist Kristin Uhrig. Isn't she amazing!
Watching Kristin's tutorials is incredibly soothing!
Go put on some relaxing music, pour yourself a glass of wine and let your creative juices flow!
The finished project is so amazing! I can see how it can be addictive and soothing at the same time.

WOW! That is beautiful! And you are right...very soothing and relaxing. I am not sure it would be soothing for me to make one...but I liked watching it. I imagine me dropping my brush and smearing the whole darn thing! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI like how the dots vary. They are different sizes and color. How cool! I've seen some decorated as cacti and succulents to put together in a display. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI think your cookies turned out very well. Wow. I too think this would be a fun thing to do.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ♥
Awesome cookies, as always!
ReplyDeleteOh wow they look beautiful

ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I bet my grandkids would love doing this with me.

Too pretty to eat!
ReplyDeleteWaaah mba..it's so pretty! I would love to try it myself. I actually love drawing and crafting but never have enough time to do so :(
ReplyDeleteLove the finished look but I'm not always coordinated and could just see the mess I'd make!
ReplyDeleteYou do have a cookie art talent, and now you've added a new realm to it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique idea! I'll take one dozen please! They look absolutely yummy!!! I'm definitely going to show these to my daughter. She's the baker of the family & I'm the cook. ~hehehe~ Great idea my friend and I know they tasted great! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing not kindergarten-y at all! Looks like a fun painting technique to try. A while back I tried some dot painting on stones but used nail varnish pens (because that is what I already had) and they turned out pretty cute.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant very nice job beautiful
ReplyDeleteKeep it up thank you

Very nice. I enjoy all the colors and the patterns.
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely beautiful art form! I think even I could accomplish something less than messy. #GlobalBlogging
ReplyDeleteWow, they look amazing! I love painting stones, and do a lot of dot painting - you're right, it is so therapeutic and relaxing. However, I would never have thought of doing it on cookies - they look amazing! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next time.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. My daughter is the artistic one in our house so I am going to share this with her. #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteThose cookies are so beautiful it doesn't seem right to eat them! They are more a work of art than food - stunning! #KCACOLS
