Hair Dryer?

My son Rodney pranked me with this Christmas gift.

I thought it was a cordless hair dryer!

Turned out , it was a gag gift  a big-ass airpod!

He had me there!

I used it to boom up and play on repeat my playlist of whiny, mopey, achy-breaky songs that I listened to when my heart was shattered by my first major crush at the tender age of 17.

Haha! The songs drove Rodney crazy!  "D-E-P-R-E-S-S-I-N-G!" he groaned !

Guys 'n' Dolls - How Do You Mend A Broken Heart?

Guys 'n' Dolls lead singer Dominic Grant died  of abdominal aortic aneurysm at the age of 71 in November 2020.

Skeeter Davis - My Last Date With You
Skeeter Davis  died of breast cancer on September 19, 2004, aged 72.

Anne Murray - Broken Hearted Me
Retired from singing, Anne Murray, 75, now settles into Nova Scotia life.

Linda Ronstadt - Long, Long Time
Ronstadt, now 73, prematurely retired from her singing career. Parkinson's disease has silenced her emotive voice.

Oh, the hauntingly beautiful vocals and lyrics...

Lyrics that rhymed so perfectly...

 The nostalgia...

What were your breakup songs for wallowing when you were a teen?

Gröööhl, I also have two, but they would have been small hairdryers. I had to laugh soooo.

I'm not like that with your music. I'm more likely to get up.

A very nice gift - and useful.
I really like these songs!
There is a song that has moved strongly me for years: Seasons In The Sun, Terry Jacks.
I wish you a wonderful new week, Veronica!

What a cute gift Veronica!! Great break up songs you featured here; sad we have lost so many good musicians! For the life of me no break up song is coming to mind though I did of course have the break ups :) Hope you are doing great! We all are :)

A nice gift. I'm not familiar with that device yet. Which means I have something else to learn. haha.
I would not have known what it was either.
A song that comes into mind in the 70's was Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison.
That was our song. Of course, I never married that guy. That's a good thing.
Have a great week.

What a nice gift. I first thought of a hair dryer too and thought they changed their design. :)

It's a particular and useful gift, Veronica, although it really looks a hair dryer.

Thanks for reminding me the great voice of Linda Ronstadt.

Have a nice week!

Ha! Got the kid back!! We have to do that as parents, you know. It drives them CRAZY!

I didn't know that about Linda Ronstadt--so sad! She had a lovely voice, didn't she?

Nice gag! Glad you can get some use out of it. 'I Will Survive' by Gloria Gaynor is a good song to add to the list.

Ha ha Rodney. That will teach you. Crank up the volume Veronica. You have a few of my favourites there. Linda Ronstadt and Skeeter Davis and Anne Murray I've not heard for years - all three out of fashion over here. But then what do kids know about music and songsters?

Ha! I thought it was a hairdryer too. We just watched a show about Linda Rondstadt. She has a beautiful voice and Long, Long time is one of my favorite songs. So sad and beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

LOL! I thought it was a hairdryer too. Two of my favourite songs were End of the World by Skeeter Davis and Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks. I used to play them over and over and drive my mum to distraction.

That’s so funny Veronica. Your son will think twice about ranking you next time! My teenage memory songs (sad and happy) are so old and so long ago you wouldn’t even recognize them.

The gift is funny! Your son has a good sense of humor. I didn't know Linda Ronstadt had Parkinson's. :( I'm sorry to hear it. My songs? The only one I remember is, "Always something there to remind me."

What a fun gift. That sure does look like a giant hair dryer at first glance!
