Limoncello
Father's Day dinner
Key lime pie, stone crab, Cuban sandwich, fried gator bites, conch?
Nope, none of the above iconic Floridian eats appeared on the menu.
Instead, they had "chicken chop", which, by the way, is a Malaysian/Singaporean dish!
Interestingly, I learned from a friend who travels extensively that there is no such thing as a "chicken chop" on the menu in the restaurants of western countries in which he dined abroad. Chicken Chop is actually a homegrown "western food".
Is Chicken Chop on the menu in restaurants in your corner of the world?
The store display and the chicken look fantastic
ReplyDeleteAll is looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteNo we don't have Chicken Chop on our menus, well not at any restaurant I've been to.
Oh a little Pinocchio I like it so much. He is a "Must-Have" from Italy I think,

What a wonderful series of photos.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks delicious.
I really like Limoncello, we don't often have it in our house really sometimes only once a year we buy a bottle.
We cook Italian very often, we also have Italian friends.
On my Facebook page you can see that I have many Italian friends.
Greetings Irma
What a great post , thanks for your sharing...
ReplyDeleteLimoncello is one of Italy’s great exports. I will pick up a bottle today.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and mosaics. I would like to try the Limoncello. The Pinocchio is cute. The chicken chop looks delicious. Love the sunflower and the Helen Keller quote. Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend!
Love sunflowers. Are you growing them on your balcony? I got 4 plants from my leftover seeds and they are starting to bloom.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of or seen chicken chop on the menu here in the states.
Now you have me want to try some chicken chops too!
ReplyDeleteI live in Miami and have never seen "Chicken Chop" on any menu!!! so funny!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you also saw "Limoncello" while you were visiting my country :-) ... did you taste it?
ReplyDeleteThe Malaysian restaurant in Rome doesn't serve chicken chop.

ReplyDeleteWonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThe Limoncello helps digestion anyway. 😉
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Veronica!
Never heard of a Chicken Chop, Veronica. Loved your photos as always!
ReplyDeleteIf Chicken Chop is fried or roasted chicken breast than it is very common in Austria. Have a nice day :)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the name "Chicken Chop" but I'm sure it has a name here and is probably very popular, I'll have to look into it.
ReplyDeleteI do not know what a chicken chop is. We have so much "foreign" cuisine that was actually first made in the U.S., so it does not surprise me that you'd have "western" food that isn't.
ReplyDeletefun to see your adventures through your photos. i have never heard of "chicken chop"!!

ReplyDeleteHello, Veronica
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy seeing your post and photos. The travel photos and the food looks delicious. The shop has all kinds of goodies. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
We don't eat out much so I've never tried many of these dishes. Love the big sunflower!
ReplyDeleteLimoncello is a wonderful drink especially enjoyed after a meal. That said, we have only had it a couple of times, but when we visit Italy in Sept we plan to enjoy it there. The wooden Pinocchio might be a must-have for some visitors, but I will pass. As for chicken chop, when we lived in VA, a popular southern dish was always fried chicken steak and maybe it's similar. As for the dinner at the Florida restaurant, I would have preferred a choice of Key lime pie, stone crab, and Cuban sandwich, but could skip the conch.
ReplyDeleteDearest Veronica,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and majestic sunflower—excellent photo!
Giving you some huge Baci!
Hugs,
Mariette
seems you had a nice trip :)

I smiled when I saw the wooden fellow. I have that same item (call him Pinnochio), and he comes out at Christmas. The limoncello looks refreshingly good. I've always wanted to try it. I've never heard of chicken chop, but I have heard of chicken fried steak. The meals you share always make me hungry. And you have traveled to the most wonderful places. Thanks for sharing a little bit of your journeys with us.
