"Gabinetto?", I asked a waiter while looking for a restroom in a restaurant where we were dining in Rome. He looked a little bemused for a second before he directed me to the facility. "Toilette", he corrected me.

But here's what I learned from the Daily Italian Words blog prior to our trip to Italy:
So, my dear Italian bloggers, which is the correct word—gabinetto or toilette?

Dancing Lady Orchid

As its name suggests, the dancing lady orchid looks like a dancing maiden with a swirling skirt.
Whore Pasta
Pasta alla Pusttanesca

Puttanesca loosely translates as “in the style of the whore.” The name derives from the Italian word puttana, which means whore.
Legend has it that the ladies of the night concocted this dish so the aroma wafting from the kitchen would lure clients into the brothels.

Economy Rice
Economy rice, as the name implies, is a cheap and fast meal option outside of home. Economy rice stalls typically consist of a case/table containing anywhere from 10-15 troughs of cooked food, including meat, vegetables, eggs and tofu dishes.

This restaurant serves over 80 dishes!

Batik fans

I spotted these curious tiny flowers (about 1 cm in size) scattered all over the asphalt. I thought they were fake flowers from a broken bracelet or necklace.

A search with Google Lens identified these as Bakul flowers.

The flowers bloom at twilight and progressively become more fragrant through the night until the next morning, when they are shed.

Nostalgia
Mural of a travelling hawker of yore

Growing up in the 60s, people rarely ate out and itinerant hawkers pedaled tricycle food carts and roved in neighborhoods, usually around dinner time. Haha! The computer is an anachronism.
