Back in 2019 at the Keukenhof festival, I stumbled upon this striking arrangement of tulips by the fountain and couldn’t resist stopping for a photo. The morning was cold and misty, yet the flowers seemed to breathe life into the entire garden.
Coming from tropical Malaysia, tulips are a rare sight — usually imported at steep prices, and never in such abundance. Seeing them here, with people wrapped in coats and scarves against the chill — instead of the usual tees, shorts, and flip‑flops we wear to beat the unrelenting heat — felt like stepping into another world.
Even now, looking at this photo brings back the memory of that peaceful spring morning in Europe: crisp air, gentle mist, vibrant colors, and the quiet rhythm of visitors strolling through the gardens. A world so different from the humid heat of home, yet one that lingers in my mind like a cherished postcard. 🌷✨
How beautiful! ♥ And such vibrant colours.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the tulips are very beautiful! The heat at your place must be terrible. We got 30 degrees last Sunday, and I felt really bad. We are not used to temperatures like that. I feel sorry for you, Veronica. I send you cool hugs! 🥰
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo of the Veronica tulips.
ReplyDeleteHere you see tulips standing in abundance in the fields in the spring.
It was 35 degrees here last Friday, you couldn't go outside, it was too hot, especially for people with lung problems like me.
All the best, Irma
Those tulips are just lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, how lovely—tulips.
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of the hit song "Tulips from Amsterdam." A thousand red ones, a thousands yellow...
And now I’ve got the tune stuck in my head, greetings from a realy hot Germany
Kirsi

ReplyDeleteLove Keukenhof Tulip Garden. I was lucky to have the opportunity to visit one spring years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteTulips are one of my favorites and I can see why you were excited to see this gorgeous display! It's wonderful.
ReplyDelete...Veronica, I believe that we all long for what we don't have in my daily life. You are blessed with the ability to travel the world and I enjoy tagging along with you. Wishing you a Joyous July.
ReplyDeleteQue bellos tulipanes. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are so pretty, I am going to have to find out when to plant bulbs here in Australia and when I can expect them to bloom.
Those are great tulips. It's weird to be someplace cold when you're used to heat. (I'm in southern California, so we have fairly warm summers, mild winters.)
ReplyDeleteEen mooie dag gewenst.
Oh they are ever so pretty. I'm hoping my tulips come up in the springtime here.
ReplyDelete"Crisp air and gentle mist", you are making me homesick for England! And the flowers! I long to see an English garden. I do like the way you write.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of those beautiful flowers looks like a bowl full of colourful candies. I can only imagine how wonderful it must be to walk through the square and be surrounded by such beautiful scenery. It's one of the most vibrant and beautiful photos I've seen in a long time.
ReplyDeleteA nice display of beauty.
ReplyDeleteYou made me dream of crisp air. The heat wave in Europe is taking a break, instead of 40°C we have 30°C. I appreciate even the small steps :)
ReplyDeleteWe are having really hot weather right now which is not my favorite, so I wish I could somehow be that woman in your photo. Of course it can't happen, but those tulips and grape anemones are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautifully vibrant colors, Veronica! A lovely sight on this hot, humid morning on the U.S.'s eastern coastline.
ReplyDeleteEverything is changing, including the climate in Europe. In recent days, we have witnessed heat waves that have broken all previous temperature records. Therefore, it is not surprising that people from tropical and subtropical regions are migrating to Europe.
ReplyDeleteThey are awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful display of Tulips. I've loved this flower for many years. They look green and healthy. This is a neat picture with the fountain in the distance. Love this picture with the people walking by in their coats and scarves. You can tell it must be a chilly day. I wish you the best July days.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tulips and photos ~ Thanks for commenting on my blog ~ Hugs ^_^
ReplyDeleteIn Italy tulips are imported too. I love orange and violet tulips.
ReplyDeleteThe tulips have a beautiful color. Seeing tulips brings me joy. :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful arrangement with tulips. I do not know the name of the blue one!

ReplyDeleteThat is a very beautiful arrangement. I wonder what the little blue flowers around the border are.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful memory. Your words made me feel like I was walking through the gardens alongside you.

The Keukenhof garden is wonderful, a world of tulips in a thousand colors, I loved strolling through it.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photo ❤️ Have a nice July!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I don't know what the pretty little blue and white flowers are that are with the tulips, but it sure makes for a wonderful contrast of colors. Glad you stopped to snap the picture.
ReplyDeleteA spectacular display!
ReplyDeleteCherished memories are a wonderful part of life. Our tulip weather is long past and the humid heat of summer is upon us here in Tennessee. At this moment, a thunderstorm is loudly passing overhead. I see I have never followed you, so I'm remedying that now. Best wishes for a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeletePlease read my post
ReplyDeleteKeukenhof is a wonderful garden; I had the pleasure of visiting it a few years ago. It's absolutely fantastic, a world of color and beauty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photograph, the tulips are so lovely.
Have a great weekend
That is a gorgeous photo. The color of those tulips is just stunning!
ReplyDeleteMeravigliosi questi tulipani rossi 🥰
ReplyDeleteTulips are so pretty, so bright and colorful
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful memory. Those tulips are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHello Veronica,
ReplyDeleteI live in North Holland myself and of course I know the Keukenhog. To my great shame, I really must admit that I have never actually been there myself 🫣. I live close to the most beautiful tulip fields and I think these tulips in this large pot are amazing to look at :-)
Kind regards,
A marvelous display and a splendid photo.
ReplyDeleteBuona giornata
ReplyDelete❤️
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, the tulips are gorgeous. Take care, enjoy your day and have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely tulips!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! We have a town here in Michigan called Holland and they have a tulip festival every year where there is tulips as far as the eye can see!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful memory you have of Keukenhof. I have been there a few times too, and although the flowers were lovely, my own memories are a bit mixed because I once became very unwell from the heat there. So for me Keukenhof is connected with both beauty and caution. Your description reminds me again how special it can be when the air is cool and misty — that sounds like the perfect way to experience it. 🌷
ReplyDeleteAfter this last stretch of summer heat, those cool Fall mornings and evenings do sound pretty heavenly!! I actually grew up just north of Seattle. The area just north of me, Mount Vernon, used to have tulip fields that would go on for miles and miles. I loved going up there every spring to see them. It was truly a breathtaking sight to behold!
ReplyDeleteDear Veronica,
ReplyDeleteThe sight of the blossoms is beautiful! 🌷 And I can certainly understand your longing for some cooling relief. Here in Austria, it's also been hotter than ever recently – almost 40 degrees Celsius. When I go to my air-conditioned gym, where I have a screen on the exercise bike showing me many of the most beautiful places in the world, I always enjoy being able to virtually cycle through snow-covered landscapes or past mountains with glaciers. It cools me down a bit, too.
All the best from Austria 🤗

PS: Yvonne's comment made me check if my picture was actually showing up in your follower list—and apparently it was missing. I've corrected that now!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sharing
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sight!
ReplyDeleteThose tulips were so colorful and I can understand how you were so attracted to them, Veronica Lee.
ReplyDeletePreciosos esos tulipanes. Un beso.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty tulips! I'm fortunate to have some tulips popping up in my front garden in the spring.
