Dinner @ Skala Restaurant
After a sumptuous dinner, a bustling crowd formed, and people were making a beeline for the most strategic points to seize the breathtaking glory of Santorini's legendary sunsets. I decided to remain where I was, content in my own idyllic spot, people-watching and enjoying the enchanting scenery surrounding me.
A member of our group said he suffered several elbow jabs to his ribs as people jostled for position to capture one of the most famous sunsets in the world.
A glorious sunset shot by our tour leader

What a wonderful trip. Love those blue domes. The waters are so blue, it really is beautiful. The marketplace would be so fun to shop at. I've always thought the statues and paintings at the Greek Orthodox are beautiful. I bought a piece myself when I went to the Church at the Greek festival. You have wonderful travel moments, my friend.
ReplyDeleteA Merry Christmas season to you.

Wonderful pictures, just what I needed to see on this freezing cold day. I'm off the Greek island of Samos in the Spring and can hardly wait!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much white, it just makes you feel warm looking at the photos. What a different lifestyle they have there, but for them it is all so normal, and who doesn't love a beach with the grass umbrellas?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs of places I'd love to explore.
ReplyDeleteI love all the food too. You know I love the food.
Then I want to be out on the water in a boat.

ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful day in paradise! I completely understand not wanting to jostle the crowd for the sunset photo... but that one the tour guide took is pretty stunning.
ReplyDeleteHello Veronica :=),
ReplyDeleteStunning views of Santorini, a town with enormous charm. The churches and chapel are beautiful, and the white painted houses and the three famous blue domes are unique. Your hotel looks inviting and also the winding narrow streets of the shopping area. I love the sea view with the boats, the sunset image, and the seafood looks delicious. Thank you for sharing your Greek holiday photos, each one is delightful.
Best wishes
Sonjia.
Wow wow what an awesome trip and amazing photos. I really enjoyed seeing this area through your photos as I will never in this lifetime be able to. It all looks so beautiful and that sunset ...wow.
ReplyDeleteVeronica, I am tipsy from this virtual trip to Santorini!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for these visuals!
I want to go there so badly!
Thanks for taking me along on your trip to Santorini! The sights are amazing and so was that sunset! Great photos, thanks for sharing them all.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful photo Veronica. Although I have never been to Santorini it reminded me so much of Skiathos and its blue skies and cobblestone streets.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos and scenery, Veronica. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDear Veronica, you did that cleverly - let the tour leader take photos of the sunset and saved yourself from being hit in the ribs 😉! The photo is really a dream, just as Santorini is simply beautiful. When I think of Greece, I see the white and blue backdrop of Santorini, it's just classic. Of course there are far too many tourists here, like in almost all beautiful and famous places in the world, but I think it was just as nice for you as it was for me to have been to Santorini at least once in your life.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Traude

I am enjoying your Greece posts. Athens is wonderful. I love how this church is dedicated to Mary, that's a beautiful thing. That shop selling nuts and dried fruits is so charming. I would have loved to browse in there. I am wondering.....Could those girls who offered the flowers just have wanted to send a kind gesture? Sorry you had an uncomfortable encounter with them.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday week, my friend.
~Sheri
I just died and went to heaven. :)) What a beautiful set of images and the food has me drooling on the keyboard. I like how you choose to go with the slow and not the crowd.
ReplyDeleteThat's all that counts.
I am so very thrilled for these precious memories that you and yours made.
Blessings and love sweetpea.
Hugs.
