Red Button Ginger Flower

When I was little, I imagined heaven to be a place where popsicles grew on plants!

Wouldn't it be nice if it were true?

These red button ginger flowers are close to what I had in mind.

The button ginger gets its name from the lovely flower head that emerges as a luscious red button.

  1. What a pretty flower/plant! They do look like popsicles :) I think heaven is going to be far greater than popsicles growing from plants :) But I would imagine it could be possible to have those kind of plants there :)

  4. You mentioned on my post you loved blue flowers. Well my favorite flower is any that's red. I love the contrast of complimentary red and green. Even a red Cardinal in a green tree. These are beautiful shots of this red ginger flower. Looks like the ants think so as well.

  10. What an intriguing flower. Though there are far too many ants on them and they freak me out a bit.

  11. Beautiful plant and flower! But I don't think slurping one on a hot day would be as good (or good for you) as a real raspberry popsicle ;>)!

  20. This plant looks great! Cheer up the garden or house (if it can be grown in pots, at home).
I searched on Google and found many species of ginger flower, with different aspects and scientific names. This seems to be Costus Woodsonii. Correct?

Have an excellent day, Veronica! ♥

  21. Those are pretty and unusual flowers. I see a lot of ants on them, but they will keep the aphids away.

  22. That's amazing Veronica. How beautiful. Needless to say we have nothing like that in the UK.

  24. They would be ideal if the bugs would not be on them. Nobody wants a bug on their Popsicle.

  35. What an interesting flower! I can see the resemblance to a popsicle. "Red" is always my favorite flavor of anything, if red can be considered a flavor. lol
