We took a drive today (stayed in the car the entire time) to the area where son's restaurant he worked at is located. This is a thriving area where it is packed on the weekends, hard to get a parking space in a 5 block radius, etc. EMPTY. Ghost town. Very eerie! Lots of restaurants are located down there with the majority of them offering take out or delivery or drive thru and most offering some type of alcohol also if someone is interested. People were out exercising in the area, either walking, running, or bike riding. Some (single people or a couple) were sitting on benches or the like just enjoying the beautiful day. I really don't know how long this will last but I wonder how many businesses will last.

i haven't been off my property in over 5 weeks, but mr wonderful has and says there are people everywhere. three of our neighbors had a bunch of people over and i hear jacksonville reopened the beaches and they want to open our here in the pandhandle?????????

How did you get in the mall to take photos? I've been biking around one of the bigger malls because the bike trails and paths are so crowded. But then there are still cars that are peeling around the mostly empty parking lot and one take out place drawing business. It's good we're taking all kinds of photos to document this cuz people may not know what it was like long after we're gone.

Our restuarants and bars etc are all closed here on lockdown I have never seen central London so deserted ever very eerie but at this time a good thing :-)

Yes restaurants are closed here too - except for a few with takeout.

ReplyDeleteSame here. My youngest son is a single dad and works in a restaurant. He has been out of work for over a month! Can't wait to go out to eat again. I am getting tired of eating my own cooking! :)

It's the same in my neck of the woods. Most of the local restaurants are open for pick-up and/or delivery. A few are hiring or have hired to keep up with business. That's good. We're still hesitant about buying restaurant food. I do miss not cooking. :-)
ReplyDeleteVeronica, it's sad, but good to keep in mind, it won't be forever. In the USA protests in 5 states have happened, in 5 more states planned. 20 states are ready to slowly reopen in 20 states, 4 states were never in lockdown. So in half of the states things started moving to reopen. Of course, for 9 months to a year, there might be an economic recession of even depression, but you and I can pray, that this will be held to the minimum!!!

Her hubby is a musician, and very sad, now the lock down finally hits that country, that he can't see his weekly buddies to play music. Can you please visit her blog and link your post about the musicians of a few weeks ago? Many many thanks!You may have to explain how to do that on the internet...
Also for this update on All Seasons! don't get discouraged, God has everything under wraps, and even though things may look bleak, if we pray, things will open back up again, maybe in a new way, but it will be His doing.
A lot of restaurants here are doing take-out and we have been frequenting one of our favorites to help them along. How long will it be until we can eat out again?? I shudder to think.

The US is going to have a lot of deaths. Many do not get the seriousness of it. They think it's a hoax. Like the media is putting fake numbers of cases/deaths out there. It's so messed up! I just hope one finds a cure. We all need it. If anything I hope we all realize how very important people's lives are. No matter what color, religion or place. We're all important.

Yes ... in my world restaurants are out and take-out is in. Also, the cashiers at supermarkets are still working so people can buy groceries. How dramatically the world has changed in such a short time. But it will get better one faraway day. Patience is required now more than ever. Thank you for sharing.

ReplyDeleteHere in Thailand, there is very much a culture of people eating out - from our famous Street Food vendors to restaurants. It would not be uncommon for some to have most meals out. Our restaurants can open for takeaway only. I agree, the long-lasting implication on the economy and peoples livelihoods are immense.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks very sad all these closed restaurants ! The first thing I would do when we are set free, is going into a restaurant or cafe to have a drink ! But apparently that will happen when everything else is open !

ReplyDeleteThe rules here are the same in Washington State but I don't believe they are issuing any penalties. They definitely didn't on the protest day at the state capitol on April 20. I keep looking for a spike in numbers after hundreds of people were so close together for a long time. - Margy

This is the only way we will be safe. Sadly, some in our country are ignoring common sense (and that includes our president who is terrible). I hope our country survives. Personally, we are still isolatinig.

ReplyDeleteTo some extent such conditions also occur in my country. There are some restaurants that are allowed to continue selling, but there are also some that are prohibited because they are in the dangerous red zone.
