Concubine Lane

The above photo was captured at one of the three lanes named  Concubine Lanes in my hometown Ipoh.

It is said that during the colonial days, rich Chinese miner tycoons and British officers kept their mistresses here, away from the watchful eyes of their wives, hence the name!

Old-timers whiling away the time at the coffee shops nearby often regale bemused tourists with stories of beautiful ladies beckoning from behind red-curtained windows, and furious wives storming the streets!

  12. I like them! They are so colorful. I don't know if my husband would agree. He's always hated umbrellas because they break all the time, and water gets everywhere with them.

  14. Hey Girlfriend, how are you? I haven't talked to you in a while. Hmmm, A whole week I think! hahaha Wow, pastel beautiful colors! I'll tell the purple one, and the pink one, and the yellow and green one! hahaha, I've had a red one before, but my favorite color is purple or violet however you wanna say it! hahaha, How are you, my friend? Fine, I hope! So is this where the phrase comes from... "Ladies in waiting"? hahaha No, no, no! I think that's something else! hahaha! Have a wonderful day, and someday I hope and pray that we will get to meet each other on the same land. HUGS!
