Just a gallimaufry of photos 📸

Mookata

Thai mookata is a popular style of barbecue in Thailand that combines elements of Korean barbecue and hot pot. The name "mookata" is a combination of two Thai words: "mu" meaning pork, and "kratha" meaning pan. In essence, it involves grilling meat, seafood, and vegetables on a domed grill pan while simultaneously using the moat around the edges of the pan to cook noodles, vegetables, and other ingredients in a flavorful broth.

Ramadan Bazaar
Stall selling chicken rice at the Ramadan Bazaar
Essentially, a Ramadan bazaar is a month-long street market specially dedicated to the fasting month, where mostly food and beverages are sold. Muslims (and non-Muslims) get to pick from a smorgasbord of halal foods on their way home from work for breaking their fast just before dusk.

Chinese dragon
FUN FACT
Chinese dragons are intertwined with creation myths and are thought to wield power over natural elements such as weather and bodies of water, while also serving as guardians of the celestial realms. Conversely, Western dragons are commonly depicted as formidable creatures capable of breathing fire, notorious for hoarding treasure and instilling fear in villages.

  1. The food looks delicious and most of these dishes are new to me. I never had the chance to visit Holland during tulip season. How beautiful! ♥ The Chinese dragons look way more elegant than the western ones - and have a kindlier purpose as well. ☺

  24. You always share such mouth watering food. The shellfish look almost what we call Cockles, I use to eat them alot when I was growing up, sometimes raw sometimes cooked, these days we can't do that much because most of the beaches are polluted.

  25. You always show the most delicious foods on your blog. Although, I don't care for clams much. I'm not much of a fish lover, only shrimp and lobster and crab. What a pretty tulip garden you visited. Interesting facts about the DRAGON!

Have a pleasant weekend, my friend.

  26. Hi Veronica, The idea of grilling meats, seafood, and veggies while also simmering noodles and vegetables in a savory broth in the moat surrounding the grill pan is simply ingenious. It not only promises a feast for the senses but also encourages communal dining, which adds another layer of enjoyment to the experience. John

  47. What an interesting way to cook food, and your meal was quite a bit to take in, It must have been wonderful to eat. It is interesting the difference in cultural thinking about dragons, but they do intermingle with humans sometimes without burning them to a crispy critter. I do prefer your dragons, and their way of thinking.
