Legend has it that good fortune follows those who rub the boar’s snout.
Some tourists have even gone so far as to place a coin in its jaws, in hopes that the water would wash the coin from the boar’s mouth into the grate below. Doing so would mean that all your wishes would come true and you would get to visit Florence again.
When in Florence, eat a Florentine Steak!

Fantastic views around Florence. Thank you so much for sharing these amazing sights. My parents were there several years before I got married, and gave me a beautifully engraved photograph album that I still have. Seeing all these lovely photos bought that old album back to my mind. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, dear Veronica, Florence is a city worth seeing! I particularly like the statue of David and the ornate church buildings. All of this is beautiful! You were a big group, but everything looks very happy and harmonious. We didn't try the Florentine steak back then - it looks huge, could you eat it all by yourself?

The buildings are GRAND and amazing. I would love to visit here someday. The steaks are a little different than the steaks here, they're huge! Interesting story about the boar. I would love to go shopping here, and the carousel is delightful. How magical it would be to visit at Christmas. This was a wonderful once in a lifetime trip for you. Thank you for sharing it with us. : )

I found it intriguing that the statues were all sculpted nude.
