Hence, a mala hotpot is a hotpot with an insanely hot and spicy broth made primarily of dried chili peppers, chili powder, douban paste, sichuan peppercorns, etc.

I have eaten hotpot style in several places, but it has never been unbearably hot and spicy. Very enjoyable way to eat.

ReplyDeleteWell, this reminds me of the years that we lived and worked in Indonesia and I really got addicted to the hot spicy food. Eating those tiny raw red and green capsicum with snacks...

Beautiful flower and fishing village photos. Although I don't mind mild spicy food every now and then, I won't be going anywhere near the Mala pot!! It even looks dangerous.

Such lovely and interesting photos; as always! I would definitely be a "mild" hotpot person.. and honestly, even that might be too spicy and hot for me as I am a wimp when it comes to spicy foods.

What an interesting fish market! The food and the meal of that coastal fishing village in Malaysia seem delicious although it is too spicy.

When I was younger I would have said, bring on the lethally hot hotpot, now that I'm older I've learned to temper things a little bit because as you say, the very hot spicy food can be very uncomfortable the next day. Still I'm intrigued by the whole hot pot idea.

I like a little kick, but these days I'm not all in with the super hot. My grandma used to say, "I like it, but it doesn't like me" for some things she wanted to eat but wouldn't. I didn't understand then, but many years later, I get it now. ;)

loved all the photos - always such beautiful plants and flowers in your area. And the food! Yes - ..i would eat that. That Eagle , ...wow. The fountain and buildings make such a beautiful photo. I would be out all day if I was around there and I would probably be eating all day too.

ReplyDeleteThat firecracker plant is something else. Looks like the sparklers we use on the 4th of July! Your dishes always look so delicious. I wish I could try some of them. The Eagle head is cool, and it's always a sight when we see the Eagle, as it's a grand bird. The forest by the river photo is very nice. I hope you have happy September days, my friend.
