Gallimaufry#16

Just a gallimaufry of photos ...

Yes, sunflowers in December!

 Christmas trees in a mall

From a distance, I thought these were fallen leaves ...

Turned out, they were starfruits!

James Bond Island
The island  was chosen as one of the locations for the 1974 James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun as the hideout for Bond's antagonist, Francisco Scaramanga.

Ah, Roger Moore   my all-time favourite James Bond actor.

  2. What a marvelous Christmas tree!
Actually, those yellow fruits seem the same fallen leaves as we see in early Autumn. I have heard of melon and grapefruit in December, but not of sunflowers.
Thank you for sharing the video of James Bond island, Veronica :-)

  7. I am drooling over the food...so GOOD! I miss good old starfruits.

  8. Yes, Roger Moore was good, but Sean Connery was the very best James Bond.

Merry Christmas - I hope your days are blessed.

  11. Beautiful photos. The sunflowers are my favorite flowers in spring I always plant them in our garden.
I prefer Sean Connery, when I went to Edinburgh I saw the house where he was born.
    Have a good week.

  14. Dearest Veronica,
Miss the Christmas Season in Singapore, for both of us the BEST memories.
Wow, what a lot of star fruits fallen down...
Cleaning the roof is a risky business but the results looked fantastic!
Sure, Roger Moore was the BEST.

  17. That is so neat that you were able to see the island from the actual Bond film. Roger Moore is also my favorite, I love how he is always smiling.

  18. That looks like a really big mall! I do like the decorations in it! Yummy with the food for your son's birthday! (happy belated birthday to him). It always makes me nervous to see people working on roofs. I'm afraid they are going to slip off. I'm not super into Bond movies so I asked my hubby who his favorite Bond was and he said Sean Connery :)

    Merry Christmas!

  20. Apparently there's a mall somewhere with a talking tree. It's computerized, and the head just looks wrong. I prefer your trees.

Not much of a Bond fan, so no opinion.

  21. The crab feast looks delicious. Belated Happy Birthday to your son. I like Roger Moore, but I also confess to having a liking for Pierce Brosnan. Merry Christmas, Veronica.

  22. My goodness, Veronica, those are HUGE Christmas trees. And how interesting to see all those star fruit on the ground - will animals eat them? I like to think about James Bond actors in the "old days", in which case I would choose Sean Connery, and current day, when I would choose Daniel Craig. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

  23. Those are definitely big trees. I'm eyeing up that dessert too but that spot in Thailand is already on my list.

  28. I have a friend who is in Phuket on vacation right now. I loved Roger Moore as James Bond. THe other actors were fine also.

I love your mall Christmas Trees, and your star fruit and the food.

Workers on roofs amaze me. Especially that guy, cleaning the roof.

  35. What great photos! My faves are the Christmas trees and tea in Paris-Brest.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I've never seen a James Bond film in its entirely (just clips). It's a major blind spot in my pop culture knowledge. LOL.

  41. All of those foods look wonderful, let's eat! I don't think I'd like that roof cleaning job. I always liked Roger Moore as Bond too but Sean Connery was right up there.

  42. Many new things to me here; starfruits, sunflower and Christmas tree at the same time, dangerous roof cleaning on the wet slippery roof, etc. Happy birthday to your son. Wish you Happy Holiday season.

  47. A wonderful collection of photos, once again, Veronica. Looks like son #2 had a delicious birthday celebration with all those crab treats! That Christmas tree is very large and apparently in a nearby mall. I like =d the poinsettia decorations on all of the trees. Hope the guy on the roof got the wire work done safely, although being on the roof hardly seemed safe. Sending best wishes to you and your family for a very happy holiday season and a better new year.

  53. Before I forget, I wanted to thank you for coming to Marmelade Gypsy and leaving a lovely comment. I hope your holidays have been and continue to be lovely ones.

You're a marvelous photographer and I loved each and every image, but my favorite was your Paris Brest. We made one of those a number of years ago -- great fun and so delicious. It brought back a lovely memory!

  54. The mall Christmas tree is so festive and pretty. Love all the red - they look like red poinsettias. That dessert looks delicious. The girls said that the food in Paris is really good, and that's something they remember. Wow, I've never seen starfruit before, how interesting. I used to watch the James Bond movies all the time back in the day.

I hope the new year brings you much goodness. It's nice getting to know you this year in blog land.
