ReplyDeleteThis post was well put, Veronica Lee, and what some consider as weeds are just misplaced wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little plant:)))
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful, Veronica. I'm not so happy about weeds, but I can see they are pretty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Veronica. I've seen some weeds that were very pretty.

Beautiful photos! My father had a range management degree and he always said "green is good" for our yard. He could spot all sorts of plants in what I always thought looked the same.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the information and details. Have a nice day! ๐
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos of the flowers and plants.

Have a great day!
So very true! These are really pretty blossoms.
ReplyDeleteThere are those of us who greatly prefer the wildness of nature to manicured lawn and gardens. Count me among them. Weeds can be my friends too!
ReplyDeleteSo very true.
ReplyDeleteDearest Veronica,
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos!
We have discovered that the weeds of one country are the treasured plants of another country! That we learned while living and working in Indonesia for three years...
Hugs,
Mariette
A brilliant post. Agree, agree, agree. And weeds are perhaps just native plants, and these are the plants we need in our lives.
ReplyDeleteSome weeds truly are as lovely as any garden flower!
ReplyDeleteWeeds are plants not intentionally being grown, but they're typical of the place. Great post, Veronica!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you've planned to go to Italy when the epidemic will to an end. You are welcome! The town where I live is located close to Rome ... let me know about your trip ๐ฎ๐น

ReplyDeleteThey are all lovely. I never heard of billy Goat weed! To me, there are no weeds, only wildflowers. If weeds were hard to grow, everyine would want them!

ReplyDeleteI would be happy to have these in my garden. My weeds are the horrible kind!
ReplyDeleteI agree to that :)

ReplyDeleteFlowers are so necessary to brighten up boring spaces, my garden is due for a week now that we're nearly in Spring.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and your photographed them so well. I call them wildflowers, and some of them are the prettiest flowers I have ever seen.

Oh, I loved seeing the weeds that grow in your area. That Billy Goat weed is so unusual and pretty. And I really like the quote, and will write that one down.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend. I enjoy reading your blog posts. : )

What a beautiful quote! My boys think all weeds are flowers too, I get a lot they pick for me on their walks, it's so sweet. I happily display them in a cup of water like proper flowers! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend ahead of you! Fun one here, a birthday party to go to each day!

Dear Veronica,
ReplyDeletethat's a good definition of weed.
I always say that it depends on WHERE it grows: Meadow grass, for example, is welcome in the meadow, but not in the flower or vegetable patch.
And some plants are very fond of spreading. You plant five of them - and suddenly you have hundreds that displace all other flowers.
I always try to accept a mix of desirable and "wild" plants in my garden, but sometimes I have to intervene ;-)
Happy Weekend and all the best

There are certainly some beautiful weeds - and though beautiful, they can overtake a garden and crowd out native species. Bindweed comes to mind. There are weeds I don't pull out, especially those that flower early in the year and offer food to birds and insect. Later, I can just discard the seedheads if I want to. I think there are a lot of beautiful weeds, but also some that can become a real pest.
ReplyDeleteLove this post - beautiful flowers ..I've been out all summer finding wildflowers and enjoying it so much! I agree weeds are definitely flowers ...and sometimes more beautiful than the ones we plant.
ReplyDeleteA nice assortment of pretty blossoms!

ReplyDeleteNice post I liked the quote also :-0
ReplyDeleteHave a misplacedtastic week ๐
I'm reading quite a few blogs and articles lately about how people are letting "wildflowers" take over their lawns because it is so much better for butterflies and the environment than grassy lawns. I really like that idea.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice way of putting it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great way to look at it. Beautiful flowers!

ReplyDeleteHello Veronica!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I love flower photography very much.
Yes, some have really very pretty flowers! Those curly leaves in your 4th pic look like Brazilian spinach, very nice vegetable.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I leave pretty weeds to grow. Some are also prettier than garden flowers.
ReplyDeleteSome weeds are more beautiful than flowers and others are just truly ugly weeds.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. There are many weeds that I view as flowers. Judgement indeed.
