Whew! Finally, that dastardly rat (sorry, rat pallies!) is gone and the earnest ox now rules the new year as the 2nd animal on the 12-year cycle Chinese zodiac calendar.

According to feng shui masters, the Year Of The Ox is generally a better year for all.
In the past, I would say "bull!" to all this but I am desperate! I want to believe that 2021 is going to be a brighter year for everyone.
It has to be.
The pandemic has dragged on too long — too many lives and livelihoods have been destroyed and we are all fatigued.
I want to travel again ...
Attend Sunday Mass ...
Attend my son's graduation ceremony which has been postponed indefinitely ...
Have a big family get together ...
Watch a movie in the cinema ...
Binge on an all-you-can-eat buffet in a fancy restaurant ...
I just want to push the play button of life that covid-19 has paused.
And oh, if you have had a bad start to 2021, here's your chance for a do-over — a fresh start.

Happy Year of the Ox to you and yours, Veronica!! I read your post back from 2018. I saw that I didn't comment on it but then I remembered I took a bit of a blog break during that time. I did enjoy the story of why the cat is not part of the 12 animals on the calendar :) So true of how many are feeling the fatigue from the events of 2020. There were so many things happening so close together it was hard not to sink into despair, worry, or depression for a lot of people. That is when having hope in eternal life and a place where there are no tears or sadness, etc helps us who believe to put things into perspective :) For me I want the kids back in school here for in person learning. They are missing out with so many things by not being in the classroom. I hope that happens soon here but I see it not happening for the rest of this school year at least here in Phoenix :(

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, and a happy Valentine's Day as well! My guess is an ox is better than a bull? I'll read that later on! Sorry you couldn't do all of these things. The upside is, you have seen how strong you mentally and spiritually you are:). You can be thankful you passed with flying colors.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing we couldn't do here (Texas) is a buffet restaurant. But a normal restaurant: yes. In California, some pastors filed suit, and they won, and churches can now since a few weeks meet. Here in Texas, after the lockdown the churches could meet. At least here in the USA - not all the restrictions were because of the virus. There are governors in some states who really were tyrannical. California and Michigan for example.

ReplyDeleteAs you mentioned, too many people lost their lives. On the economic front, unemployment has risen sharply since Covid-19 epidemic began. Not to mention of public debt. Now people would like to enjoy theatres, restaurants, gyms, beaches, etc. ... I am optimistic, as I think the epidemic is going to an end.

We are optimists, but we do still fear that life will never be the same again after this whole virus thing. So far 2021 is doing alright, but so was 2020 at this point. We are hopeful for a better year, and what better animal to pave the way than an Ox.

ReplyDeleteI do hope the Year of the Ox will be a better one. I miss our cruises and mid week breaks, but most of all I miss seeing my friends. Due to low immunity because of medical treatment I have sheltered almost constantly for nearly a year and am so tired of it. We had our Covid jabs today so hopefully things will soon improve.

ReplyDeleteI'm not optimistic. Restrictions will continue, with or without the vaccine, until people say "enough is enough." I listen carefully to what is being said here and there, by specialists, that's why I think they will keep us in chains for a while.
