Someone said he was the light of the world and anyone who had met him would warm up in his glowing. Sadly, he was engulfed by the darkness that was tormenting him.
I am heartbroken beyond words. Such a tragedy.
Still in shock, Malaysian are mourning the loss of our favourite celebrity chef.
I don't mean to judge, but really, suicide never steals the life of just one person.

Aunty Aini, whose Malay restaurant in Negri Sembilan was featured twice by Anthony Bourdain, pays tribute to the beloved chef in the following video. She said Bourdain was a humble man who always encouraged others to be original.
She said it all and that is what he was all about.

This was a big loss to me too. I really enjoyed his approach to people, food and cultures. It disturbs me that so many people are struggling and suicide seems to be far too prevalent.
Such a senseloss loss. It just goes to prove even if you think someone has it all and is successful, popular, etc., they still have hidden demons that they can often hide well. I feel for his family and the questions they must be having and trying to figure out what went wrong and what they could have done to possibly prevent such a thing.
Lovely post! I have been very sad over this and so have been rewatching Parts Unknown. My husband is watching along with me this time and remarked, "I didn't know anything about him before. But I can see from watching this why so many people are feeling the loss."
It's really so sad.. I can't even fathom the amount of sadness and despair one must have inside them to make them take their own life. And it happens far too often nowadays.
One of the best posts I saw on this explained about how we needed to watch our exchange rate on the chemicals that gave us joy and happiness and feeling good - that for a kid, they get hours of exuberant joy from finding the perfect stick in the back yard, and for some adults, winning an academy award won't even get you through the night before the demons return. It's how you experience that is important, not what you experience. And if you realised you have a dud exchange rate, get some help to get that in order. #Globalblogging
She's so cute. The way she speaks & speaks of him. I did not watch his show or know of him, but he must've been a very nice & great man. Wonder why he committed suicide, but then again wonder why Robin Williams did.. it's so sad.. so very sad!!! May he rest in peace! Thank you for sharing...
I'm still in disbelief. Although I didn't know Anthony personally, I feel like I knew him personally. I've invited him in my house for years- back to his very first show- I read his words, and let them inspire me. He's partly the reason I began to blog! I read one of his books, loved his writing voice; and at the time I needed a place to exhale and share what I was going through, so I started a blog. Not my current blog. He is certainly missed. XO
It's a tragedy whenever there is a loss of life regardless of how it happens. You're right, suicide doesn't take from one, it takes from many. Unfortunately, someone who kills him/herself can't see beyond the moment. How sad!
