The Walk

Parking is always a problem for my son Rodney when he goes to his campus every day. The car park is perpetually full so he has to park his car in a shopping mall that is linked to his campus by an elevated pedestrian walkway. It is quite an interesting 6 min walk with many motivational quotes along the way. The  bridge is about  360m long and crosses over a section of a wildlife park that is part of a theme park.

Join me on this fun walk from the campus to the mall

You see motivational quotes like this spurring you all the way

STOP WHEN YOU'RE DONE, NOT WHEN YOU'RE TIRED

YOU'RE ON YOUR WAY, YOU CAN GO THE DISTANCE!

KEEP CALM, STRETCH & CONTINUE WALKING

A CIGARETTE ON ONE END, A FOOL ON THE OTHER END

BE YOUNG AT HEART - YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO WALK

YOU'VE WALKED APPROXIMATELY 450 STEPS! WELL DONE!

Approaching the theme park.....
 I hear screams!
 The 360-degree rotating pirate galleon.

You read it right the first time! There are LIVE tigers beneath as the walkway spans across a section of the theme park.

Can you spot the tiger?  It took a while for me to see it as I was expecting to see something bright orange. Hint - it is a rare blue-eyed White Tiger.

Can you spot the two sun bears?

DO CARDIO, YOU CAN OUTRUN A ZOMBIE ATTACK!

GET YOUR FEET READY AND HEART STEADY

Almost there.....

THE WIDER YOUR WAIST LINE, THE SHORTER YOUR LIFE LINE
Can you see the Wagon Ferris Wheel from the theme park on the right?

A view of the Wagon Ferris Wheel

The last quote
THE HEART SEES WHAT THE EYES CAN'T - TREAT BOTH WELL
Yay!!! I walked more than 10,000 steps today!

The walk

Did you complete your 10,000 steps today?

  4. WOW! Well, that is a cool walk to take each day. At least it is not across a very long parking lot in horrible weather. (That's what you get here in Chicago!)

  10. What a great way to get some steps in every day! Just plan it into your daily commute to class! I had more trouble spotting the sun bears than I did the tiger! The tiger was very beautiful!

  12. That's so neat that there's motivational quotes throughout his journey.

I think I like: BE YOUNG AT HEART - YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD TO WALK

Maybe I should put motivational quotes up for my students. They really don't have to walk much though. My lazy students have a parking lot right by the door. Most have apartments within walking distance, but they still drive. Hummm...says the person (me) who walked everywhere when I was in college.

  14. No, not hardly. I haven't even gotten out of my chair much this morning which I really need to do that now to stretch the ole body. I love the motivational, fun messages along the bridge. I don't think I'd like to cross over live tiger, though. With my luck, the bridge would collapse landing me in the middle of the Tigers just before feeding time and they say, "Oh, good! Looks like dinner is here!" :)
